Experience
I came to the fitness industry relatively late at the age of 29. Once my initial training was underway, however, I became a committed, lifetime member of the fitness industry. Initially I worked as a freelance instructor at local health clubs and sports centres, then after moving to Lincolnshire I had the pleasure of being the manager of the Kenwick Health & Leisure Club in Louth. On moving back to Hull I worked as the gym manager at the then Metropolitan Club in Hull and, when the opportunity arose to become a tutor for London Central YMCA I returned to freelance instructing. During my career as I tutor and assessor I have worked for the 'Y' in two of its incarnations (London Central & YFit), for Professional Fitness & Education/Northern Fitness & Education, Modern Pilates and Aquafusion (training Midwives). During this period I have worked at many lovely venues around the UK and taught a wide variety of fitness related courses to an even wider variety of fitness instructors. Twenty three years later I still teach training courses and assess occasionally but mainly concentrate on teaching private Pilates Classes and One to One sessions and focus on home based personal training with individuals for whom classes may not be appropriate.
